What we found out about similar games

Willy the Whale
is a single or multiplayer game available on the App Store. Not very popular - reached only 100 downloads so far. The player has to keep his finger on the touchscreen to push the whale up, if he leaves the screen the whale goes down again. That way he has to avoid other sea dweller. The only thing that gets measured is the distance reached. Best scores are shown in the High Score list.

Whale Trail
The game Whale Trail is all about flying through the magical skies of Rainbow Land with the main character Willow the Whale. You have to collect the rainbow bubbles as your fuel and by that you can also make points. Beside the endless mode, where you can play as long as you don’t run out of fuel or crush into thunder clouds or something, there are also Challenge Levels where you have to complete a mission.
The game is fun to play, but there is no learning effect connected to it.
It is available for Apple iOS aswell as  Android.

Ocean Doctor

1 Million downloads – 3,7 Stars

Ocean Doctor is an educational game where you are a ocean doctor who saves creatures who live underwater. They were all harmed for example a turtels shell got cracked by an anchor. You have to help her back on her feet and than fix the broken shell. You can only play demo-version, fort he full version you have to pay.

+ cute graphic design
+ nice mini games
+ the reason why the animals got hurt is clearly marked

- there’s no further informations why the animals got hurt
- you dont really have a learning effect
- sometimes you don’t exactly know how to play the mini-games

Ozean Säubern Light Version

Iphone, Ipad and Apple Watch

The aim is to save the pelicans by swiping the falling garbage into a net. Besides that, some oil patches appear from time to time that you have to get rid of. It gets faster the longer you play, which makes it more difficult.
You have three lives and then the game is over but there is basically just one level which makes the game monotonous after a few minutes. Moreover, the game is not very informative and has no learning effect since there are no facts about the ocean and the pollution included.
Because of the very incomplex concept and the infantile user interface the target audience appears to be children.

What will seperate our game from the others?

We want to make our game like a journey with a story in it where you have to safe the seven seas.  It's all divided into several mini-games and each one covers a different topic. The player interacts with the main character as he learns about different aspects and problems of the ocean. He also starts to develop emotional feeling towards our protagonist as he also has to care about his welfare.

The aim of our game is to expand the player's knowledge in a playful way. For example after every completed level he can get some bonus points by answering a few questions concerning the sealife. It's not only about superficial facts but also more surprising and unexpected ones.
Furthermore our game will be a pleasure for the eye as it'll have nice visuals and character designs. That'll encourage our user automatically to join the game.
